PFLAG NYC is the founding chapter of PFLAG, the nation’s foremost family-based organization committed to the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. PFLAG NYC’s mission is to create a better future for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth and adults through a partnership of parents, allies, and LGBT people. Support groups for people with gay & lesbian loved ones; transgender and gender non-conforming loved ones (TransFamilies Project); gender expansive and transgender school age children up to age 12 (Stepping Stones); LGBTQ loved ones of Asian descent (API Rainbow Parents). Generation Q LGBT Center: Generation Q is an after school, drop-in center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth and allies, between the ages of 13 and 21. The program offers LGBTQ youth a friendly, safe environment with a wide variety of educational and recreational opportunities as well as social support. Through the program, participants are connected with meaningful opportunities for advocacy and activism, event planning, peer education, community building, and leadership. Ackerman Institute’s Gender & Family Project (GFP), founded in 2010, empowers youth, families and communities through gender affirming services, training and research. Queens Center for Gay Seniors: We are a LGBT Senior center for LGBT Older Adults in Queens, New York. We offer a hot and cold option senior lunch daily (Monday-Friday) from 12:30-1:30. Nursing Home Abuse Center (NHAC) – One of the major concerns of the senior LGBT community is housing discrimination, both in terms of access to housing and the treatment they receive once there.
